1) The ZYG 808 began making hip-hop music at the age of 13. His other genres include jazz, r&b, Afrobeat, Neo-Symphonic, Afro-Punk, and EDM.

2) The ZYG 808 is a trained musician and composer who has composed works for orchestras, string ensembles, and jazz bands. He has earned numerous scholarships for music schools and college for his work in music composition. Beat making is an extension of his composition work and he makes all of his beats and loops from scratch.

3) The ZYG 808 decided to learn about the music business by forming a label to produce and sell his music. He produced a mixtape called “At The Party” in his family’s home studio.

4) The ZYG 808 busked (performing on the street for money) as a summer job in 2018, rapping and playing drums at the same time. He used that as an opportunity to sell his mixtape, and ended up getting two Grammy nominations for songs on the project.

5) In 2019 he released the album BoOMBAPJAZz which included instrumental hip-hop jazz cuts that featured his drumming and vibraphone playing and gained a dedicated streaming audience in Germany and West Africa.

6) The ZYG 808 is a staff producer and assistant engineer at Polyphonic Studios in Bourne, MA. He is a pioneering artist and producer in the Southcoast Thump & Soul movement, a cross-genre regional movement of Black and Brown musical artists fro the southeastern area of Massachusetts and Rhode Island.

7) The ZYG 808 created the K30 Collective as a not-for-profit community arts and education organization as a development platform for young performing artists of color in the New England region. The collective affiliates with the Black Rock Coalition and Universal Zulu Nation.
